  • 4/20/2009 -   Gift Books!
Here’s the information re: gifts. Please read this carefully; we don’t want any of your materials to go missing.
    • Please read the FAQ page for a definition of a gift book. The idea of gifts is not for us to add copies of the 2nd Harry Potter novel- you can do that much quicker at the school.
    • All items must have a barcode and school number on them. If we get items without any barcodes and school number they will be given to the Classroom Library.
    • Please limit yourself to 100 items or 2 boxes. We just don’t have the room to store any more as we’re still working on your orders.
    • Please be sure the items are actually worth being put in your library. We get far too many gunky, dusty, usless books to process. Please consider your time in preparing/boxing the items, the warehouse’s time schlepping them back and forth and our time cataloging them.
    • Label the boxes “ERS-Fox Street- GIFT BOOKS” and put them in your school office (or wherever warehouse deliveries occur). The boxes will be picked up by warehouse staff and eventually cataloged over the summer and sent back to the school. You won’t see these items before school is out, ok?
    • Please let me know how many boxes you are sending out. Just a quick email is good.

Its vitally important that you follow these instructions. Please ask if you have any questions.

  • 3/17/2009 -   Teen Health & Wellness: Introductory Workshop (4/16/09)
Join your library colleagues for a 90 minute workshop presentation on Rosen Publishing’s award-winning database Teen Health & Wellness: Real Life, Real Answers.

Lauded by both the Library Journal and School Library Journal as the place to go for information about physical and mental health, eating disorders and fitness, drugs and alcohol, sexuality and dating, family life, life skills and more, this resource provides answers to the questions most often asked by middle school and high school students.

Teen Health & Wellness also provides important curricular support. Developed with a team of experienced health and wellness writers, educators, librarians, and expert reviewers, it contains critical information for research and reports. Articles in the database are closely aligned to Colorado curriculum standards for health, physical education, science, and language arts, as well as to national standards.

In this workshop, participants will learn about the site, its audience and content coverage, as well as its relevance for students grade 6-12. A detailed review of the site will provide both an orientation and training. All major features and functionality will be covered, including Lesson Plans, Hotlines, and the Personal Story Writing Project. The workshop will explore in depth the Librarian/ Educator Resources section, including outreach tools and program ideas on how to encourage users--students, teachers, guidance counselors, intervention specialists--to take advantage of the database.

Click here to register for this workshop.
